DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 ARRIVE WASHINGTON D.C. – TOUR BEGINS
Beautiful cherry blossoms welcome you to Washington,
D.C., as you look ahead to your week in Amish country.
Tonight’s Welcome Meeting introduces your friendly
Tour Manager and traveling companions who’ll share
this memorable journey with you.
DAY 2 WASHINGTON D.C.
Soak in the iconic landmarks, rich history, and beautiful
parks of Washington, D.C., on a panoramic city
tour. See many of D.C.’s famed monuments, including
the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington
Monument and Jefferson Memorial. After free
time to explore the National Mall, we’ll visit George
Washington University’s Textile Museum revealing
their impressive 4,000-object collection dating back to
antiquity. Your evening at leisure can be spent savoring
comfort food and Prohibition-era cocktails in our
hotel’s famous gastropub. B

DAY 3 WASHINGTON D.C. – LANCASTER
After breakfast, return to the National Mall to visit one
of the 17 Smithsonian museums (or any museum
of your choice) with dedicated time for independent
exploration. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to
assist with choosing a world-class museum.
Later, arrive at our Lancaster resort hotel in the
heart of Pennsylvania Amish country and our home
for the reminder of the trip. B
DAY 6 LANCASTER – WINTERTHUR
Travel through the beautiful Brandywine Valley to
explore American culture at the Winterthur Museum.
The 175-room estate is furnished with the world’s
greatest collection of antique furniture, textiles and art.
Tonight, at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater, settle in for a
home-style meal and Broadway-caliber entertainment
at our customary Farewell Dinner. B D
DAY 4 LANCASTER – INTERCOURSE
Kick-start your day visiting family-owned Log Cabin
Quilt & Fabric Shop where rows of high-quality
quilting cottons beckon to be brought home. Next, in
Intercourse, shop The Old Country Store’s endless
fabric selection before browsing the specialty shops
and restaurants in historic Kitchen Kettle Village.
Later, witness the beauty of pastoral farmlands as our
local guide navigates the country backroads to a Plain
family’s home. Tonight, we are welcomed guests
at their kitchen table for a homecooked sit-down
family supper. B D
DAY 5 LANCASTER – LITITZ
At LancasterHistory, our private bed turning of the
famed Esprit Quilt Collection reveals priceless Amish
quilts curated by Esprit clothing company for their San
Francisco world headquarters. Next, Mennonite-raised
Elva Hurst spins her stories during a chalk talk at her
Barnyard Art Studio, where we witness her chalk
drawings come to life. Later, get lost in the aisles of
Burkholder Fabrics, a supermarket of quilt fabrics,
books and supplies set amidst Amish farmlands. B

DAY 7 LANCASTER – PHILADELPHIA – TOUR ENDS
In Philadelphia, birthplace of America, explore historic
landmarks including the Betsy Ross house, Liberty
Bell and Independence Hall on a panoramic city tour.
Before saying goodbye at the Philadelphia Airport, we’ll
stop at historic Reading Terminal Market, with its tantalizing baked goods, confections, and even cookbooks
so you can duplicate those Amish treats at home. B
